The Money Checklist

The Money Checklist was created during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. The pandemic brought on a sense of uncertainty to many aspects of people's lives. Will I get sick? Will I lose my job? When will we go back to normal? Our mission is to remove uncertainty from your personal finances. When you have a full understanding of your financial situation it brings a sense of relief and the ability to focus on other areas of your life.

Why The Money Checklist?

The Money Checklist strives to be a comprehensive personal finance resource. All the information and resources we provide will be 100% free. We will help you understand your current situation, set your financial goals, and achieve financial success. In addition to our content, we will provide you with all of our other favorite websites and resources.

Our Goals

  1. We want to help as many people as possible learn about personal finance. Education is the key to success. We believe personal finance should be taught in school every year as a core curriculum. Since it is not, we want to help bridge the knowledge gap.
  2. We want to find or create all of the best resources and keep them in one place. Whether it's books, podcasts, websites, or products we will find the best of the best.
  3. We want to give back. The Money Checklist believes in charity and giving. A portion of all income will be donated. We want you to get to a financially secure place so you can join us in giving back.

Your Goals

Personal finance is something every person will have to deal with in their life. Don't let your bills and your money control you; make your money work for you. As you read through our website, think about your financial goals and write them in a central location. Having tangible goals will allow you to develop a plan to get there and track your progress. Take it from us, there is nothing better than checking off another milestone. Everyone will have their own goals and they are all valid and meaningful.

Examples:

Whatever your goals are, they are all achievable with the right plan and timeline.

Remove Uncertainty

Having a financial plan will remove a lot of uncertainty and stress in your life. Even if you are not near your goal, you will be able to adapt and keep making progress with whatever life throws at you. In the past twenty years, we have had multiple black swan events. The dot-com bubble, the subprime mortgage crisis, and COVID-19 will not be the last major events.  For people in the right financial positions, these events were huge opportunities to take advantage of the subsequent market gains. Will you be prepared for the next one?

Money As A Tool

Money is not just a medium of exchange used for goods and services. Money is a tool for comfort and stress removal. A fully-funded emergency fund and a paid-off house both work wonders for how you sleep at night.

You do not need to be a millionaire to feel this comfort either. A well-developed plan that you are working towards can put your mind at ease. Money can also buy you time. If you make enough or invest enough in the right way, you may not need to work. This ability to retire early, reduce hours, or take a pay cut to change careers to what you're passionate about is priceless.
